Brett Jolly’s Thought for Today ( Listening to your body)

“No one lives forever.” However, the quality of your life “depends heavily on how well you take care of your body.” If you are experiencing chest pains (or any other abnormal symptoms) then something “could” be wrong. Over 5 years ago I was walking my dog and then suddenly experienced “double vision.” I recalled having some chest pains the night before but I didn’t think they anything to be suspicious of. My brother took me to the hospital for a precautionary visit. The people at the hospital told me that I was probably overly stressed out and they were about to send me back home. One nurse by the name of Angelia Manley said that I needed to stay and she was “so right.” I had a stroke right there in the hospital. I couldn’t move my right side and I couldn’t say the word “computer.” They kept me for 3 days but after the third day I managed to walk out of that hospital at “nearly one hundred percent capacity.” I was blessed to have a second chance. I have changed my life drastically since that time. Recently singer Toni Braxton was interviewed, and she had a surgical procedure that turned out to be a life saver for her. Here is her interview:

I think we all are aware that “something is going to do us in eventually.” If you can ward off the things that you feel may cause a problem in your life then that will help. High blood pressure, bad eating habits and stressing out a lot can make you a victim if you do nothing about it. I had to leave people who caused me stress and I feel so much better now. I walk a lot, I plan periodic vacations to see the ocean (That is so peaceful to me) and I just try my best to “live right.” I am not always successful but I feel much better about myself with the way am living now. You can too. Do “your own assessment” of yourself and see if there is anything that you feel you should change. If you find anything then simply work to “change it.” The quality of your life should improve greatly and you will be glad you did. Thank you so much for checking out my Thought for today and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.

Brett Jolly’s Thought for Today (Tucker Carlson leaves FOX)

There have been a “lot” of stories posted about FOX news. Many people have varying opinions on it. Many believe in it, while others have said that they often lie. A day of reckoning came about when FOX was sued by Dominion voting machines for defamation. It was the largest settlement of any case and it opens the door for many other cases against the corporate giant. A week later it’s “leading show host” was no longer employed by them. What does this mean?:

“Negativity is often taught.” Many people are “heavily influenced by what they hear.” A news program should “normally” portray the “news as it is” and not subject their audiences to their “opinions without verification” on their programs. If you do state your opinions, then at least “state” that these are your “opinions.” Dominion’s lawsuit was based on what it felt were lies from FOX. Will this decision have an effect on the viewership of FOX? Probably not. Will this decision make FOX focus more on telling the verifiable truth? Hopefully so. Think about this for a minute: At the January 6 riot many stormed the capital and invaded it illegally. How many of those rioters do you think actually listened to FOX news regularly? Uh huh. “I am not blaming FOX news at all” but rather just asking a question. In order for them to be there “someone had to relay the news to them.” Tucker Carlson read from his script (or teleprompter) for his show. He gave the audience what he felt they wanted to her, but did he always tell the truth? If he did, then should he be fired by now? Unfortunately, Carlson wasn’t the “only” one. What will happen to the rest of them at FOX? Many lawsuits are forthcoming for FOX and a collapse may come soon. Stay tuned. Thank you for checking out my Thought for Today and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.

Brett Jolly’s Thought for Today (The truth, at what cost?)

Fox news just had a day of reckoning with Dominion Voting machines. Fox was due to be taken to court for defamation for 1.6 billion dollars for lying. The end result was that Fox settled for around 787 million dollars. What does this mean? Here is a video:

“Many” people followed Fox news “believing that they spoke the truth.” Fox depends on the sponsorship of these people to remain as the top news media giant. This settlement opens them up to even “more” possible lawsuits because people can now challenge other claims they have made. Will the people who supported Fox still continue to do so? I believe they will, because there was never any proof in the first place to bolster Fox’s statements. People “wanted to believe in the lies.” Will they continue to feature people like Rudy Giuliani or pillow spokesperson Mike Lindell? I honestly think they would be wise to break ties with these people if they wish to keep their money. How about Trump himself? This one is a little trickier. Trump is allowed to say what he feels but Fox needs to make sure that “management does not necessarily support these views” or else they may endure more of the same. I think the only way Fox can continue to keep it’s base is for them to post a disclaimer at the beginning of their shows that “views expressed are not necessarily accurate or supported by management.” This settlement was a victory for “the truth.” Too many times lies have dominated our politics and news media. Now people can realize that falsehoods can come “at a cost.” This won’t do much damage to Fox financially but the social consequences are huge. It will be really interesting to see how Fox broadcasts from here on. What will this verdict to to other big name politicians like Marjorie Taylor-Green? Be wary about what you say, because it might become a huge burden on your wallet. Thank you for checking out my Thought for Today, and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.

Brett Jolly’s Thought for Today (Can you be pro life and not support gun control?)

I thought about this “heavily.” I actually “tried” to take a “neutral stance” on this. I listened to both sides of this debate intently. I also considered the “Constitutional rights of those wishing to protect themselves.” With all the many massive shootings of innocent people “something NEEDS to be done.” Too many “troubled” individuals are able to “legally obtain deadly guns” and commit random acts of violence. As long as we continue to do nothing this scenario will only continue. Here is one debate looking at both sides:

For the record, I am really not trying to take guns from good people. In fact, I am an advocate for them being able to protect themselves and their families. “HOWEVER,” I am “vehemently” in favor of implementing STRONGER background checks on “anyone who wishes to purchase a firearm.” Pro life supporters have gone “ALL OUT” to make abortions ‘”illegal” because they strongly believe in the “right to life.” If you actually take that stance then “how can you NOT support” stronger background checks for gun purchases? While we’re at it, let’s also reference “capital punishment.” How can you possibly believe in the death penalty and yet still claim to be pro life? No matter how much I think about this it seems hypocritical to me. Just like we can put GPS’s and tracers on cars and phones I think we should be able to do the same thing on guns. That way we can tell who owns a gun and even “track when it has been fired.” Stop allowing the NRA to donate money to politicians. That raises a “conflict of interest.” If you don’t support stronger background checks then don’t expect me to listen to you about banning abortion. Everyone has a right to their own opinion and everyone should be able to state their stance. All I ask is that we “take the time” to educate ourselves “FULLY” on the issues before making judgment. Through learning and enhanced communication we can solve “everything.” Thank you for checking out my Thought for Today and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.

Brett Jolly’s Thought for Today (Introducing Alfie Pollitt)

The Philadelphia Sound of music has it’s own style. While we recognize and adore the music most of us don’t know the details or the people that helped make it great. Many of these famous icons are gone now. Mortality has almost wiped out this entire generation. There are still some left with stories to tell, and that is the purpose of this video. This gentleman’s name is Alfie Pollitt and he is a keyboardist, songwriter and producer. I could tell you a lot about this man but I will let the interview speak for itself.

Please keep in mind that this is a series of interviews that I am putting together with co host Toni Trower. We want to introduce people with interesting stories so that we all can understand our world a little bit better. If you have an interesting story to tell we would love to hear from you. This segment here is only part 1. Hope you enjoy it and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.

Brett Jolly’s Thought for Today (Halle Berry shoots nudes. Can women over 50 still express their sexuality?)

Of course we are talking about Halle Berry here. In many instances she has an immortal reputation of being a sexual superstar (like Raquel Welch and Sophia Loren). She is now at the age of 56 and just recently posted a picture of herself nude on a balcony for Twitter. Someone has already posted something negative about the picture. This person also made reference to her being of menopause age. Is it fair to say that about Halle? Is she no longer attractive now that she is over 50? For those who want to make their own determination here is the video to the picture:

I understand that the whole concept of beauty is “relative.” Real beauty is (and should be) in the eyes of the beholder. To say that Helle Berry is washed up simply because of her age is “opinion.” She does not have to be in her 20’s or 30’s to still be considered attractive (Yes, this is my opinion). I have seen “many” women who still look “awesome” in their 50’s 60s and 70’s and on. No one can stay young forever. Cosmetic surgeries can help, but what truly makes a person look great is “the love they have for themselves.” I never met Ms. Berry, but I have met many other beautiful models besides her. Society needs to come to grips that “everyone” has “something beautiful about them.” Sexuality goes far beyond those who have “narrow thinking.” I give “thumbs up” to Halle Berry for having the confidence to feel great about herself. I believe more people should adopt her way of thinking. Obviously it works for her. Maybe some of it can rub off on you. Thank you for checking out my Thought for Today and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.

Brett Jolly’s Thought for Today (So what “should” happen with this?)

I decided to wait before posting this. I listened to a “lot” of reactions in regards to the “indictment” of Donald Trump before offering my own assessment. “Clearly” the reactions have been “diverse.” There are so many people talking about this, but here is one video:

Maybe it is me, but I think people need to at least “hear all the charges of the indictment” before rushing off to judgment. On the surface this may seem “petty” to some. Having an affair with a porn star dos not seem like a big issue to me, but maybe the 34 other charges may be way more significant. That is why it is important to hear these charges. One thing I do know is that if left unchecked, Trump will “only continue engaging in this type of behavior.” I don’t think anyone will disagree with that. For me the real issue isn’t even about Trump himself, but rather the countless supporters he has behind him. His political allies have been “rather embarrassing at times,” like the many miscalculations of Marjorie Taylor Green, the miscues of Lauren Boebert and the blind eyes of Kevin McCartney and those “unbiased” people from Fox News (yes I am being sarcastic). Right now what we do know is an issue, but what if the charges bring out things we “didn’t” know before? There have been many “alleged” crimes thought to be perpetrated by Trump. Are “ALL these charges unfair and untrue?” Granted, many political figures have engaged in criminal activity before and were never brought to justice. Bill Clinton lied about an affair. Nixon had the Watergate scandal. Bush went to war with a country that was erroneously thought to have weapons of mass destruction. How do the charges of Donald Trump compare to these other issues? I do believe that all accused defendants should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Trump is a 76 year old man that will “probably never set foot in a prison cell.” If found guilty of these crimes, “something” needs to happen to keep him out of politics. If not, is it possible that he could be the very first person to be elected President while incarcerated? This case makes for very interesting “theater.” I strongly suggest you get some popcorn and stay glued to your TV for updates. This may even be bigger than the “Trial of the Century.” Thank you for checking out my Thought for Today and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.
