Brett Jolly’s Daily Thought (Can we elect an openly gay President?)

Pete Buttigieg is running for President. Pete Buttigieg is also an openly gay candidate. Rush Limbaugh, a longtime radio host, said that America is not ready to elect a gay guy kissing his husband on the debate stage. Is he right? We as a nation have made great strides in changing our views over the years, but we still have a ways to go. We were “close” to electing a woman President. We already had a Black (African American) President. What would be wrong with electing an openly gay President? I remember years ago when I was working with legendary singer Teddy Pendergrass. We once had a talk about him performing concerts from a wheelchair. He was worried about how people would perceive him. I told him that some people were a little nerved at Ray Charles, Jose Feliciano and Stevie Wonder performing while blind, but public exposure made it more acceptable. I simply told him that the more concerts he does the more people will accept his situation. The same can now be said for Pete Buttigieg. Granted, some people may be uneasy should he decide to kiss his husband onstage, but even that can be overcome. Buttigieg said that he and his husband mostly hug onstage. If we are to continue evolving then at some point we ‘must’ accept the gay lifestyle. It is here to stay. Years ago certain people hid ‘in the closet’ when it came to disclosing their ways. Being gay may not be acceptable in the Bible, but we need to rise above that. There are a LOT of things that are ┬ánot acceptable in the Bible, and being selective doesn’t help us. Can ‘you’ elect an openly gay President, or are you one of those people who are stuck in your ways? As we grow, we need to change, and that includes our views as well. Hopefully one day we all will see that. Thank you for checking out my Daily Thought, and as always I wish you ┬áthe very best that life has to offer.
