Brett Jolly’s Daily Thought (Songs I absolutely hate to play)

I am still without my computer and I hate that, but there are songs that I have to play regularly that I hate even more. Someone asked me the other day if there were any songs that  I can’t stand playing.  I am going to list some of them now and the reasons why I despise them so much. First off, every wedding band that I have ever played for does this song and it really gets on my nerves. That song is “At Last” by Etta James. If I had a dollar for every time I had to play that song I could probably retire for life. Next comes a song that is so demoralizing to a musician. It is a good tune but I am sick of hearing it. That song is “Brick House” by the Commodores. I have played that song so much that I could probably do so in my sleep. I wish they would outlaw that tune. If you have heard a lot of wedding bands then you have probably heard that insidious medley of Earth, wind and Fire tunes. They usually start off with “September” into “Let’s groove tonight” into “Sing a song.” The sad part about all if this is that everyone seems to do the exact same medley. When I fill in for certain groups I just wait for it because I already know it’s coming. The longer we play it the more aggravated I become. I also hate “celebration” by Kool and the gang and “Its getting hot in here” by Nelly.  There is one song that I dont get to play that much and I am real happy about that. The tune is called “I love the nightlife” and I have no idea who sings that song. That song makes me want to change my religion.  That is how bad it is. Finally I think we can add “Rappers Delight” to this list and I am done for today. Just thinking about these tunes makes me want to go out and hit someone.  No I am only kidding but these songs really do irk me. I’m sure you have certain tunes that you hate as well. Thank you for checking out my Daily Thought and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.
