Brett Jolly’s Daily Thought (Signs you are getting older)

Throughout the years we all go through change. Things that we could not understand during our early years now appear to be more acceptable. When I was a little boy I couldn’t understand why my parents didn’t allow me to go out at night with all the other boys. They kept me inside and those boys often laughed at me. I felt bad about it then. However, at this stage of my life I now realize that a lot of those same boys went to jail or got hurt from their bad activities. They look at me now as though I am on a higher pedestal because my life turned out well compared to theirs. I couldn’t see it then, but I surely see it now. As I have grown older I noticed several changes. Pay phones are practically gone. VCRS are out of here. Post offices seem on the verge of extinction. Cell phones are the current fad (and to operate one properly I need to ask the advice of my kids). My history no longer applies to the young kids. They don’t care anything about Motown or any of the music I grew up with. Music has been taken out of the schools here in Philadelphia and most younger parties want DJ’s now. What has happened? I can say that as you go through life, you need to be able to adapt and change to survive. I remember at one stage in life people were being terminated from the jobs and being replaced by computers. Instead of learning how to use those computers they opted to do things “the old fashioned way.” Shopping at malls is becoming an extinct tradition because more people are now shopping online. They are ordering products through their phones. I have no plans to get left out of anything. I could sit around while the world changes without me or I could simply get with the program. My motto is that as long as I live I should continue to learn. The moment I stop learning is the moment I stop growing. Growing older surely beats the alternative. I am happy  with all the things that I know I need to do. Hopefully you are happy as well. Enjoy your life as though it could end tomorrow, because in all  honesty, “it can.” Don’t put off today to do tomorrow. The quality of your existence depends on you… Thank you for checking out my Daily Thought, and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.
