Brett Jolly’s Daily Thought (Today’s lost forgotten hit song)

This song I “absolutely love.” It was done years ago by a lady who was actually a jazz legend. One of the biggest musical thrills I ever had in my career was to be able to play for this lady. One time I had played a gig in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and I got home around 4:30 am and I was really tired. Then I got a call around 6:00 am because this lady needed a bass player to play for her afternoon gig in Atlantic City. Needless to say, I did what most musicians would do and got myself up to go play for her. The deep part about this performance was that there was literally no time for any musical rehearsal so I had to go to this lady’s hotel room and listen to a tape of her show… and then go play it. Since I have perfect pitch I managed to pull this one off (but it was not easy because she had a lot of tunes). It was great to work with her and I was glad to get the opportunity. I have heard that she has lost her voice now and still performs with another vocalist to sing for her (while she does sign language during the song). Some of you may remember her. This is one of my favorite songs with her, and it was truly a pleasure to play for her. Thank you for checking out my Daily Thought, and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.
