Life offers great people who eventually become great icons. No one lives forever, in which case the memories of these people can hopefully inspire others. I have worked musically with a lot of big name artists, but unfortunately I never got the opportunity to work with Nancy Wilson. I love the fact that it was her talent and ability that made her a great vocalist. She was a class act all through her musical career. In case you did not hear, she died just a few days ago at the age of 81. Here is her story:
You can often tell a lot about a great singer by just examining his or her career. I once saw Ms. Wilson perform at one of my gigs. She had a small jazz type musical setup, and she performed as though the crowd was small. It was great to be on the same program with her, even though I wish I could have performed with her. She was a big promoter of having a message in her music. Whenever you heard her sing you always got more than just a melody line. I doubt there will ever be another Nancy Wilson, but I hope that doesn’t stop singers from trying. She is an “excellent choice” for some singer to emulate. If there is one word that I would use to describe her, it would be “class.” She will be missed, but her music should live on forever. Thank you for checking out my Daily Thought, and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.
