Brett Jolly’s Daily Thought (People say they have no talent…Is that true?)

I have talked to “many people” about performing. Most of them will say that they only sing in the car or sing in the shower…any place where no one else can hear them. You might also be one of those people who believes that you can’t sing. Would you be right? True, not everyone can sing well. Some can sound really good while others sound really bad. The true concept of good singing is not in your willingness, but rather in your training. Everyone is not born with great vocals. Some people have stronger throats than others. Some people hear better as well. Training can bring out the best in your abilities. The problem here is that most people either can’t or won’t take the time to harness their singing capabilities. When that happens then your voice will only be able to do so much. Of course, there are also the “other” types of singers. These are the people who really believe that they are the only ones who can sing well and everyone else is beneath them. I refer to them as “legends in their own minds.” These people will only want to hear themselves. They don’t want anyone else singing lead but them, because they honestly believe that no one else can sing as well as they can. In most circumstances these people would be wrong. Lastly, there is the “fragile vocalist.” This is the person who will sing “everything” as long as you “change the key” of the song. These types of singers get on my nerves. As a musician you hate to play behind someone who changes the key constantly. After hearing all of this do you now think you might be able to sing? The best way to find out is to simply “try it.” Don’t hold back. If you either feel that you are off key or feel yourself straining then you may want to ease up. Pay attention to yourself if you are singing, and hopefully “after some training” you can be a much better vocalist. Thank you for checking out my Daily Thought, and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.
