Each year I perform for something called the “Marian Anderson Awards.” It is a fun event that honors “some big name people in music.” Names like Patti LaBelle, Bon Jovi, and more have been inducted. This year they will be paying homage to Dionne Warwick, and the show will feature the Stylistics along with Darlene Love and Billy Davis and Marylyn McCoo (from the group the Fifth Dimension). This event will be held at the Kimmel Center here in Philadelphia. We have gone over the music and I am ready for it. For those of you who don’t know, doing Dionne’s music is intricate and difficult to play, because But Bacharach was no joke when it came to his arrangements and orchestration. He put in parts that were not ordinary by any means in his music (but that also made it more fun to play). I have heard that Clive Davis will be there and I am looking forward to a great event. I have played for Dionne before. In fact, we played for her when her sister Dee Dee died. I would have understood perfectly if she had decided to cancel the show but she was a brave trooper and still went on with it. She is a good woman. If you are in the Philadelphia area this Tuesday you might want to check out the show (even though I have heard that the prices of the tickets may be as high as $500 though). I would not want anyone to lose money on this event so I understand perfectly if you cannot make it. Check with the Kimmel Center to be sure of the prices first. However, if you can make it, I would love to see you there. Thank you for checking out my Daily Thought and as always I wish you the absolute best that life has to offer.
