Brett Jolly’s Daily Thought (“The Marian Anderson Awards”)

My apologies for skipping yesterday with my Daily Thought post. For those of you who have checked my posts, you already know that I play music professionally. Yesterday I had to go from early in the morning to the late night hours performing at a gala event entitled the “Marian Anderson Awards.” This honor is given annually in recognition of the late great female vocalist Marian Anderson. Past honorees have included celebrities such as James Earl Jones, Bon Jovi, Berry Gordy, Wynton Marsalis, Bill Cosby and much more. This year the honorees were Gamble and Huff (famous songwriting duo for Philly International Records) and Patti Labelle. The performers were the Soul Survivors, The Three Degrees, Kathy Sledge (lead singer for Sister Sledge), Carrol Riddick and Ledisi. It was a beautiful night and the event was held at the Kimmel Center here in Philadelphia, PA. I was the bass player for the band and I had to play for everyone. As soon as pictures come in I will probably post. It was a formal event and just about everyone was dressed to impress. It was truly my honor to be a part of this prestigious presentation and if you are ever in the Philadelphia area around mid November I hope you can come check it out. Today it is back to business as usual, but at least I can say that I had a wonderful night of entertainment. If you would like to know more information about the event just check out the link below. Thank you again and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.
