Brett Jolly’s Daily Thought (“I think I have had enough of this”)

It would be nice if the upcoming Presidential election were just based on the “pertinent issues facing the country.” Right now the only things I am hearing are bad statements attributed to each candidate. I will be “so glad” when this election is finally over and all these negative allegations and gossip can finally go away. It seems like each side has accusers that are making claims from so long ago (and none of them has any evidence to back up anything). Yesterday I heard the “newest revelation” and that was this story about a young Black male who claims to be Bill Clinton’s illegitimate son conceived from his affair with a prostitute. As soon as I saw the story I just shook my head and started laughing. For those of you who are interested just go to the link below:

What is really amazing about all of this is the “timing.” All of these crazy accusations supposedly happened many years ago, so why is all of this coming to the light right now? The answer is simple: Because it is the best way to try to influence the election. People get turned off when hearing about a candidate’s “misdeeds” and that could change how a person votes. Sometimes it doesn’t even make a difference if an accusation can be “verified true or not.” People will form their opinions based on what they “want” to believe and what they “think” they know. In fairness to “both” candidates I would love to see these kind of smear tactics brought up “in court” instead of in the media. “Anyone” can accuse you of something. However, these accusations cannot be substantiated then should we give them the credibility we think they deserve? I am not saying that anyone is lying, but why wait until now to make noise about it? A campaign should be about the “issues” that need to be addressed in society. All this other stuff just puts a bad taste in my mouth. The election is just a few days away. No matter who you vote for, I hope you can focus more on what your candidate can do for you as opposed to what others are saying about your candidate. At this point “neither one” of these candidates is perfect… and neither are we… If you can manage to block out all the negativity you just might find your best choice for who should run this country. Now wouldn’t that be special? Thank you for checking out my Daily Thought, and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.
