Brett Jolly’s Daily Thought (“Independence”)

Here in the United States today we are celebrating what we call “Independence Day.” This is a holiday dedicated to us declaring our independence from British rule back on July 4, 1776. Usually this holiday is celebrated with barbecue parties and often fireworks. I realize that there are countries and nations out there that still exhibit government control over its people. To some degree there always has to be laws and limits, but the best way to discover the extent of your independence is to just say and do what you want “uncensored.” Here we can talk badly about our leaders without having to pay repercussions for doing so (no matter how wrong or right you may be). Of course, our freedom of speech here isn’t totally free because what you say “can” still get you in a lot of trouble if you are not careful. However, we have more freedom to exercise our right to be heard here than most other places around the world. We also have the right to promote our abject stupidity with what we say, and some people here are “excellent” when it comes to that. These people should be glad that there is no law for saying things that are “dumb.” Independence is important to have, but does anyone really have it? Laws are in place to make sure that you don’t. Wherever you live, I hope that you have enough freedom to “at least feel uncensored today.” If so, then you have what you would call your “own Independence Day.” Hope it is a great one… Thank you for checking out my Daily Thought and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer.
