Brett Jolly’s Daily Thought (“A song that you shouldn’t recognize, but will”)

This song was a very old classic originally done by the Chi-Lites. Most people will probably not be familiar with this tune. However, if you check out the very “first 17 seconds” of this song you should be “VERY familiar” with it (also at the 42 second mark and the 1:43 mark as well). Before saying anything else let’s see how good your musical ear is. Here is the song:

Yes, for those of you who are not very musically gifted, parts of this song were actually “stolen” by a writer for one of the biggest hits of this century. If you have not figured it out yet then I will tell you at the end of this article. While some will say that the music was sampled I am inclined to disagree. If it were just sampled, then the key of the sampled part would remain the same (unless of course, it was sped up or slowed down). However, the tempo is still close enough in similarity to let me know that the parts weren’t just sampled, but rather “stolen.” I only hope that the owners of the original version got paid for being ripped off. For all intents and purposes I have always liked this song. Most people will only know the “after song.” I am letting you know that the original song is just as good for me. Thank you for checking out my Daily Thought, and as always I wish you the very best that life has to offer. By the way, the hit song that stole these parts? It was none other than Beyonce’s hit song, “Crazy in Love.” Have a great day.
