Brett Jolly’s Daily Thought (“My personal experience with Celine Dion”)

Years ago I had two interesting gigs, and the deep part about it was that i didn’t have to play “any instrument” at all for both. I actually had a gig “singing with a choir.” Now at first thought that shouldn’t sound like anything special. However, when you consider the artist I sang for, it was quite a beautiful experience indeed. I actually sang at the Mann Music Center here in Philadelphia and at Madison Square Garden in New York behind “Celine Dion.” During those days a lot of artists would have at least one song where a choir would be featured and sing in the background (and we were honored to do this with her). As far as celebrities go, she had to be one of the nicest I ever performed with. She took the time to tell us about her being French Canadian and also how no matter how many shows she does, she still “gets nervous” before each one. She even took the time to take pictures with the choir (unfortunately I cannot find any of the pictures we had with her). It was also special because my little girl Jazzmin (who was a very little girl at the time) also sang with us, and Celine really liked her. The gig at Madison Square Garden was by far the more impressive of the two. She was performing a song called “The Man” and we had to enter the stage from the back. No one could see us because there was a big curtain in front of us. We were all in place on rafters and right after the guitar solo the curtain raised slowly and we began singing to a “packed house.” The way the lighting was positioned I could actually see “every seat” and there was not even “one” empty one. Towards the end of the song she turned towards us and raised her hands in the air as if to signify that our job was “well done.” It was a great experience and I hope you don’t mind me sharing that with you today. I don’t know if I will ever get the opportunity to do that again, so for today I will simply cherish that moment. I thank you for checking out my Daily Thought, and as always i wish you the very best that life has to offer.
