Brett Jolly’s Daily Thought (Topic: Arresting 6 people in Iran for singing “Happy”)

I recently heard a story where 6 people from Iran were actually “arrested” for posting a video tribute to the song “Happy” by Pharrell. For those who have actually “heard” this song, there is “absolutely nothing” degrading, insulting, pornographic or antagonistic in this song/video.” This is just a good tune. It “had” been noted that none of the women in the video were fully covered up, which is “Iranian” law. However, the men in the video were arrested as well. In Iran, there is a “lot” of censuring going on. The internet is monitored and their programming is also controlled.  Women are “expected” to wear “loose fitting clothing” that covers  up  just about “all” body parts.  I am SOOOOOO glad we don’t have that tradition here (smile). Just yesterday I saw a “ton” of women on the streets  that would probably have been “beheaded” in Iran for what they wore. I do understand that  no matter where you are, the law is the law, but I can’t  help but feel  that the rules and regulations in Iran are “overly extreme.” In a world where there are “plenty” of tunes that feature vulgar lyrics, subliminally corrupted messages and disrespectful content it is a “breath of fresh air” to actually hear a tune that features “none” of those characteristics. I have never really been a big fan of Pharrell, but even I have to give him his props on this song and what it promotes. How DARE anyone actually “be” happy in Iran. I guess that must be considered blasphemous or something. Either way,  while we have no choice but to respect the laws of that area I do hope that “all” participants in the video are released. I have heard that they were already let go, but I don’t know if the charges against them have been dropped. The world is changing. People are entitled to more rights, and that included minorities, gays and women. I only hope that places like Iran can eventually “catch up” to the rest of the world one day. I may be wrong, but I think I also heard that if a woman is raped there, she has to have no less than “four” witnesses to the violation or else she will be imprisoned. There is something “majorly” wrong” if’ that is the case. This world needs all the “positive promotion” it can get, so I only hope that “everyone” can benefit from the message in  this song. Thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts today and I hope that your day is truly blessed. Have a great one.
